Arsenal lead Manchester United in race to sign Juventus striker Fernando Llorente in summer transfer window

The Juventus striker emerged earlier this week as the man believed to be the ‘surprise’ transfer target Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is keen on. However, reports in Italy suggest it is actually the Gunners who would be the more likely club to land the 30-year-old, who appears surplus to requirements in Turin following the recent arrivals of Paulo Dybala and Simone Zaza. It is claimed boss Arsene Wenger is ready to offer the Serie A side £8.5million for a player who arrived in Italy from Athletic Bilbao back in 2013 for free – but it may take some effort to persuade the Spain international to sign on at The Emirates. This is because Llorente is understood to be keen on a switch to Real Madrid, another side with an interest in the towering forward, who has more than 100 goals to his name for both club and country.
