Liverpool Transfer News: Gourcuff swoop, Pedro shock move, Benteke medical

France midfielder Yoann Gourcuff has emerged as a target for Liverpool, according to reports. Talksport claim Brendan Rodgers is ready to swoop after the 29-year-old was released by Lyon at the end of last season. The playmaker could also be a target for Arsenal as Arsene Wenger is thought to be a long-term admirer of his fellow Frenchman. Meanwhile, Christian Benteke is reported to be in advanced talks over his £32.5million switch to Anfield. The Reds triggered the Belgian's release clause and are currently talking with Aston Villa chiefs to iron out the finer details, according to Sky Sports. A medical is yet to be arranged but a deal could be in place in time for the striker to join up with his new team-mates on their pre-season tour of Australia.
Liverpool could face competition in their pursuit of Barcelona forward Pedro. The 27-year-old will be allowed to leave the Nou Camp this sumer if somebody meets the club's £22m valuation. Merseyside appeared to be his most likely destination but Manchester United are now believed to have entered the race for the Spain international's signature.
